Keep foodservice running through a building cutover.
A renovation brief starts with the permanent kitchen’s shutdown dates and the meal service that must continue. Identify which power, water, drains, exhaust, storage, and delivery paths remain available in every phase.
Public project records provide planning examples. They do not identify Rolling Kitchens as a supplier, establish an equipment request, or authorize a trailer placement. Project status reviewed October 24, 2026.

These projects show different types of building work. A source may document renovation machinery or a restaurant reopening without documenting an equipment rental or a foodservice interruption.
City of Alexandria
City Hall and Market Square
Public status: The City’s September 2026 update reports abatement complete and describes deconstruction planned to begin that month. It anticipates high-reach excavator work, debris hauling, fencing, and pedestrian detours; completion is anticipated in fall 2028.
Rental planning: An Alexandria onsite kitchen trailer rental for an unrelated Old Town food operator needs its own legal pad, delivery curb time, protected pedestrian route, and independent power and grease-service plan. The civic work does not authorize a unit in Market Square.
Public status: VCU says the renovation began in October 2025 and is slated for completion in late 2027. The scope includes masonry, roof, fall-protection, and groundwater-drainage work.
Rental planning: This is an administrative building, not evidence of a dining shutdown. A Richmond temporary kitchen trailer leasing request from a separate operator should identify the affected kitchen, outage dates, loading dock, service routes, and temporary utility connections.
Public status: Virginia Tourism’s August 2026 lodging update described more than $1 million in guest-room and flooring renovations and expected the on-site restaurant to reopen in late 2026.
Rental planning: The update does not say a temporary kitchen was requested. A Wise portable kitchen trailer rental for any hospitality continuity plan would depend on the operator’s actual service dates, guest circulation, site pad, exhaust, power, water, and waste plan.
Use the actual operator’s schedule to choose equipment. A nearby public renovation cannot stand in for the receiving facility’s shutdown plan.
Before shutdown: record the last operating day, meals and rack volume, menu, cold-storage demand, and the temporary receiving area.
During demolition: separate food handling from dust, debris trucks, fire lanes, guest paths, and contractor circulation.
During utility cutover: mark when permanent electric, water, drainage, gas, exhaust, and grease service become unavailable; document approved temporary connections.
Before reopening: plan inspections, sanitation checks, inventory transfer, temporary-unit removal, and restoration of the receiving pad.
A planned or completed project is a different case.
The Bristol municipal research page records the Sessions Hotel conversion and Hard Rock opening as completed, while museum and capital-plan work remain conditional or future. Those examples should not be presented as active 2026 renovations. The Alexandria brief provides more detail on City Hall and the city’s other renovation records.
